Bobby Womack
Robert Dwayne "Bobby" Womack (4 Mart 1944 − 27 Haziran 2014), Amerikalı müzisyen.[2] Ohio'da doğan Womack, müziğe 1950'li yıllarda kardeşleriyle birlikte kurduğu The Valentinos grubuyla başladı.[3] Sam Cooke'un gitaristliğini de yapan Womack, 50 yıllık müzik yaşamında R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel ve country tarzlarında çok sayıda eser verdi.

The Rolling Stones'un İngiltere'de bir numara olan ilk single'ı "It's All Over Now"un bestecisi olan Womack, solo kariyerine 1968'de çıkardığı Fly Me to the Moon albümüyle adım attı. 1970'lerde çıkan Understanding albümü ve Across 110th Street film müziği albümüyle popülerlik kazandı. Bu dönemde, sonraları funk grubu New Birth tarafından cover'lanan "I Can Understand It", "Woman's Gotta Have It" ve "Harry Hippie" single'larının yanında, yıllar sonra Jackie Brown filminde kullanılan "Across 110th Street" ve en başarılı parçalarından biri olan "Lookin' for a Love" ile ses getirdi. 1982'de "If You Think You're Lonely Now" ile R&B listelerinde bir kez daha ilk ona girmeyi başardı. 80'lerin sonunda uyuşturucu bağımlılığıyla boğuşan Womack, 1994'te Resurrection albümüyle dönüş yaptı. 2009'da Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'e dahil edildi. 2010'da Gorillaz'ın "Stylo" adlı parçasında Mos Def ile birlikte gruba eşlik etti.[4] En son 2012'de, Damon Albarn prodüktörlüğünde kaydettiği The Bravest Man in the Universe albümünü XL Recordings'den yayınladı.[5]
Bobby Womack, 27 Haziran 2014'te yaşamını yitirdi. Sanatçının ölüm nedeni resmî olarak açıklanmadı.[6]
