Max Beerbohm

Sir Henry Maximilian "Max" Beerbohm (24 Ağustos 1872 – 20 Mayıs 1956), İngiliz yazar, karikatürcü ve tiyatro eleştirmeni. Victoria dönemi İngilteresi'nin aydınları üzerine yaptığı taşlamalarla tanınır.[1]

Hayatı

Londra'da doğdu. Genç yaştan itibaren Victoria döneminin aydınları içerisinde yer aldı. 1892 yılından sonra Strand dergisinde karikatürleri yayımlanmaya başladı. Daha sonraları Oxford'da öğrenimini sürdürürken yazdığı mizah denemeleri olan Yellow Book yayımlandı. 1896 yılında denemelerini The Works of Max Beerbohm (Max Berbohm'un Yapıtları) isimli kitapta topladı ve dönemin ünlüleri üzerine yaptığı karikatür-portreleri Caricatures of Twenty-five Gentlemen (Yirmi Beş Bayın Karikatürleri) ismiyle yayımladı. 1898 yılında Saturdey Review dergisinde tiyatro eleştirileri yazmaya başladı. 1910 yılında İngiliz tiyatro oyuncusu Florence Kalin ile evlendi, İtalya'nın Rapolla kentinde yaşamaya başladı. II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında kısa bir süre İngiltereye dönmesi dışında ölene dek aynı kentte yaşadı. 1956 yılında öldü.[1]
