İlk albümü " If I Had a Hammer" ın kapak versiyonunu içeriyordu ve Altın Disk kazandırdı. Diğer hitleri arasında " Lemon Tree", "I'm Comin 'Home, Cindy" ve "Sally Was a Good Old Girl" vardı. Gibson Guitar Corporation için koleksiyoncuların parçaları olan iki gitar tasarladı.
Lopez ömür boyu bekar olarak kaldı ve çocuğu yoktu.[2] Yeğeni Trini Martinez, Dallas'ın indie rock grubu Bedhead'in davulcusuydu.[3]
Lopez, 11 Ağustos 2020'de Kaliforniya, Palm Springs'deki Desert Regional Medical Center'da öldü.[4] 83 yaşındaydı ve COVID-19 komplikasyonlarından muzdaripti.[5][6][7]
