Leopold August Abel, (d. 24 Mart 1718 – ö. 25 Ağustos 1794) Alman kemancı ve besteci.

Leopold August Abel, Köthen'da 24 Mart 1718 tarihinde dünyaya geldi. Karl Friedrich Abel'in abisi ve Johann Leopold Abel'in büyük babasıdır. August Abel, Franz Benda'nın himayesinde keman çalmayı öğrendi. Braunschweig tiyatrosunun orkestrasında sanatını icra etti, Prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen saray bandının (1758), The Margrave of Schwedt (1766), Duke of Schwerin (1770) şefliğini yaptı. Sinfonia a 8 vociyi, ve Viyana'daki Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde'de bulunan bazı keman eserlerini 1766'da besteledi. Ludwigslust'te 25 Ağustos 1794'te yaşamını yitirdi.[1]
