Past perfect

Past perfect, İngilizce dilbilgisindeki zaman yapılarından biri. Geçmişte gerçekleşmiş bir olay veya durum referans alınarak, ondan daha önceki bir olay veya durumdan bahsederken kullanılır. Standart olumlu bir cümle özne, "had" yardımcı fiili ve fiilin üçüncü hâlinden (past participle) oluşur:

Subject + had + past participle

  • When Mrs Brown opened the washing machine she realised she had washed a red sock with the white clothes.
  • James had cooked breakfast when we got up.
