Usame Riaz

Usama Riaz (Urduca: اسامہ ریاض‎; 1994, Gilgit-Baltistan – 23 Mart 2020, Pakistan), Pakistanlı hekim. Riaz 1994'te Gilgit-Baltistan'da doğdu.[1]

Riaz, İran'dan Pakistan'a dönen hacıları muayene etti.[2] Ayrıca COVID-19 tanısı konan yoğun bakım hastalarını da tedavi eden Riaz kişisel koruyucu ekipman eksikliğine rağmen çalışmaya devam etti, bu da kişisel enfeksiyon kapma riskini arttırdı.[3][4][5][6]

Riaz 23 Mart 2020'de COVID-19 hastalığının neden olduğu komplikasyonlar sonucu 26 yaşında öldü.[5] Riaz koronavirüsten ölen ilk Pakistanlı sağlık çalışanı oldu.[7]

Ölümünden bir süre sonra 27 Mart 2020'de Azad Keşmir Eyaleti Başkanı tarafından Keşmir Nişanı Ödülü ile mükafatlandırıldı.[1] Ayrıca Riaz'ın ölümünü Gilgit-Baltistan Başbakanı Hafız Hafizer Rahman "ulusal trajedi" olarak nitelendirdi.[8]
