Tiyatro alanında tanınmış bir aile olan Redgrave ailesine mensup oyuncu, aktris Joely Richardson ve Natasha Richardson'ın annesidir. 2010 yapımı The Whistleblower (Türkçe adı;Muhbir) filminde rol almış son filmi "Letters to Juliet" de tekrar parlayan oyuncu, aynen bu filmde olduğu gibi sonradan tekrar kavuştuğu eski aşkı Franco Nero ile evlidir.
